  • Degree objectives

    The Master's Degree in Nursing is carried out in association with the Higher Schools of Health of the Polytechnic Institutes of Beja, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Setúbal, Nursing School of S. João de Deus of the University of Évora and School of Health of the University of Algarve, through a rotating protocol (administrative-financial management under the responsibility of the host institution of the edition. This training offer, with its characteristics of a professional master's degree, intersects with research and community extension. By proposing to train masters in specialized areas of nursing, we will qualify professionals for a differentiated and quality care provision to the populations.
    Privileging high-level training and qualification, the objectives defined for this master's degree are included in the scope of the educational, scientific and cultural project of the Higher Education Institutions involved, associating the dimensions of community extension as well as cultural, scientific and technological cooperation and exchange, with regional, national and international entities, in a perspective of reciprocal valorization that fosters the development of knowledge and enhances the ability to intervention in society. The course offers seven areas of specialization: Community Nursing in the Area of Community Health and Public Health Nursing; Community Nursing in the Area of Family Health Nursing; Rehabilitation Nursing; Child and Pediatric Health Nursing; Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing; Medical-surgical Nursing in the Area of Nursing for the Person in Critical Situation; Medical-surgical Nursing in the Area of Nursing for the Person in Palliative Situation

  • Learning objectives and skills to be developed

    Develop knowledge and skills for specialized intervention in a nursing domain, evidenced in high levels of clinical judgment and decision-making, taking into account human responses to life processes and health problems; To promote the improvement of the quality of health care, using research, evidence-based practice and ethical and deontological frameworks; To train for clinical governance, team and project leadership as well as for the supervision and management of care, in the different contexts of linear practice. To contribute to the development of discipline and specialized training.

  • Career opportunities

    In the health area, in all contexts of nursing care, sectoral and intersectoral, at all levels of prevention, in which scientific, technical and human skills are required and/or applied to provide specialized nursing care in the areas of nursing specialty.

    Passing 13 course units in the field of Child Health and Paediatric Nursing;
    Passing 13 course units in the field of Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing;
    Passing 13 course units in the field of Medical-Surgical Nursing in the Area of Nursing for People in Critical Situations;
    Passing 13 course units in the field of Medical-Surgical Nursing in the Area of Nursing for People in Palliative Situations.
