Degree objectives

Organisations' awareness of network and information system security has never been as relevant as it is today. With each passing year, there are more devices connected to each other via the internet, some of which are poorly protected or poorly configured, ultimately posing threats to organisations' assets. To address these threats, a Cybersecurity Competency Framework has been defined, which identifies and maps the competencies that constitute cybersecurity capabilities. On the other hand, the cloud is being adopted on a large scale by all types of companies, playing a key role in infrastructure optimisation, cost reduction and digital transformation. Cloud solutions can help institutions deal with data as it grows, offering a flexible architecture and providing analysis tools, while also enabling fast and secure access to data and reducing costs compared to traditional IT infrastructures. The Advanced Professional Technical Course (CTeSP) in Cloud and Cybersecurity aims to provide the technical training necessary to support developments in these two areas, cloud and cybersecurity.

Learning objectives and skills to be developed

Provide students with cross-cutting skills in the areas of Cloud and Cybersecurity, namely: Design, implement and manage cloud architectures; Design, implement and manage network services and systems to make them more secure; Installing, administering and using cybersecurity services and systems; Intervening on the front line in detecting and responding to IT security incidents; Implementing, testing and debugging applications for mobile devices. Building and handling relational databases and using Database Management Systems (DBMS). Analyse, design and develop web platforms (client/server). Install and configure small computer networks. Install and configure wireless communication systems. Implement security mechanisms in information systems. Demonstrate the ability to work in a team, initiative and autonomy in problem solving.

Recognition of prior learning

Recognition of prior learning is carried out in accordance with the Academic Regulations of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal.

Admission requirements

Hold a secondary education qualification or equivalent, which includes the subject of Mathematics; hold the M23 exams for access to the course; or hold a technological specialisation diploma, a higher vocational technical diploma or a higher education degree.
