    Competences to Be Developed
    This Microcredential aims to develop a set of academic, professional, linguistic and cultural competences that are essential for the professional practice of future Portuguese Sign Language Interpreters (ILGP) and Brazilian Sign Language Interpreters (ILibras).
    Linguistic Competences
    To develop communication competences in Portuguese Sign Language (LGP) and Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), recognising the linguistic, discursive and cultural specificities of each language;
    To understand and apply strategies of linguistic mediation between sign languages and the Portuguese language in educational, cultural and artistic contexts;
    To recognise the prosodic, rhythmic and expressive dimensions of sign languages in the construction of narrative and poetic meaning.
    Competences in Translation, Interpreting and Cultural Mediation
    To apply theoretical and practical principles of translation and interpreting in sign languages, with a focus on cultural translation and accessibility;
    To develop critical skills to adapt visual narratives to different audiences (Deaf children and youth), respecting linguistic and cultural identities.
    Competences in Visual Creation and Production
    To conceive and develop visual narratives, storyboards and scripts in sign languages;
    To produce accessible bilingual audiovisual content, integrating subtitling, sign language windows, rhythm and inclusive editing;
    To use digital audiovisual production tools according to criteria of accessibility and aesthetic quality.
    Academic Competences
    To critically analyse key concepts from Deaf Studies, deferred textuality, and Deaf literature.
    Intercultural and International Cooperation Competences
    To develop collaborative working competences in international and multicultural contexts (Portugal–Brazil);
    To recognise differences and convergences between educational and cultural contexts within the Lusophone space.
