Objectives

1. Analyse and problematise the concepts of global citizenship and sustainability
2. Develop critical and reflective skills for citizen intervention, as the basis for a professional practice that intervenes in a sustainable
society.
3. Know the principles of global citizenship and the challenges of sustainability,
4. Identify the main SDGs, as well as the tools available to promote better appropriation of their principles.
5. To provide a critical reflection on the main risks/threats of a non-sustainable society.
6. To promote competences in articulating the themes/problems of global citizenship and sustainability with the practices developed in the
educational context

Teaching Methods

The methodologies are structured around interactive presentations by the instructor, reflection and discussion activities led by the students, and active research into the topics under discussion. The aim is to promote dynamic classes and foster interaction between teachers and students through knowledge-building processes and student initiative, with proposals for resources that contribute to the development and acquisition of the competencies outlined in the curriculum. Each group of students develops a project on a specific theme related to citizenship and sustainability, creating a digital portfolio that identifies texts and educational resources. The project is intended to simultaneously foster the development of disciplinary and cross-disciplinary skills and to serve as a resource for future work in schools or kindergartens.

To support in-person activities, tools from the Moodle platform, such as discussion forums and a glossary, will be used, along with other digital tools like Padlet and Miro. The use of these tools is also intended to facilitate students’ independent work.

Program management strategies and activities to be carried out:

A) Reading, discussion, and analysis of key texts provided by the instructor

B) Plenary and/or small-group discussions based on information provided directly by the instructor

C) Information research

D) Preparation and presentation of practical assignments

Tutorial support

Students are provided with support for the development of their assignments. In addition, specific tutorial sessions will be offered on the topics/issues that students wish to address in their respective assignments.

Participation in the learning process

In addition to valuing active, relevant, and assertive participation in class, it is equally essential to complete the various activities-individual and group assignments outlined in the course syllabus-that contribute to enriching the learning outcomes and the skills to be acquired.

Content Explanation

This course aims to integrate and complexify previous learning related to the theme of citizenship and sustainability and frame it within a
global vision of the challenges facing humanity. Students are expected to envisage areas of intervention for their future professional action
and analyse possibilities for action in an educational context. The aim is to use the topics covered to discuss and problematise educational
action in relation to the issues of global citizenship and sustainability.

Methodology Explanation

At the end of this course, students should be able to demonstrate acquired skills in the following areas: (a) organisation and management of
information, demonstrating the appropriation and use of different concepts relevant to the issues in question; (b) production of texts of
varying dimensions and issues; (c) public presentation of work; (d) contextualisation of the learning proposed by the course in the course
and in the performance of their professional role.
In view of the expected results, the teaching methodologies are intended to be consistent with the learning objectives.
